What to know about Ethereum
Ethereum switched from mining to proof-of-stake in September 2022. Blocks come every 12 seconds and a block is considered final after two epochs, roughly 13 minutes. ETH is also the gas coin of most layer-2 networks, which is why the provider lists the same ticker on Ethereum mainnet, Arbitrum, Base, OP Mainnet, ZKsync Era, Linea and others. These are separate ledgers: ETH on Base is not visible in a mainnet wallet view and cannot be credited to a mainnet deposit. All of them use the same 0x address format, so the address itself does not tell you which network the funds are on. That is the single most important thing to check before a swap.

ETH mistakes that cost money
Sending ETH on Arbitrum or Base to a deposit created for Ethereum mainnet. The address looks the same, but the deposit is watched on one network only; select the network your ETH is actually on.
Sending from a smart-contract wallet such as Safe. The transfer arrives as an internal transaction, which deposit scanners do not always pick up; send from a regular account or ask support first.
Leaving no ETH for gas after the swap when you also hold tokens. Every ERC20 transfer later needs ETH on the same network.
