What to know about Cardano
Cardano uses the extended UTXO model: like Bitcoin, funds sit in outputs rather than account balances, but outputs can also carry native tokens and script data. Blocks come about every 20 seconds on average. Two Cardano rules matter for swaps. Every output must carry a minimum amount of ADA, around 1 ADA for a plain payment and more if tokens are attached, so tiny payouts are impossible. And staking is liquid: delegating a wallet to a pool does not lock the coins, so ADA in a delegated wallet can be swapped at any time. Shelley-era addresses start with addr1; the provider waits for the confirmations shown below before crediting a deposit.

ADA mistakes that cost money
Trying to send the full balance of a wallet that also holds native tokens. Each output with tokens must carry extra ADA, so the wallet keeps some back.
Pasting a stake address (stake1…) instead of a payment address. Stake addresses cannot receive payments; copy the addr1… address from the receive screen.
Expecting a reward withdrawal to be included automatically. Unclaimed staking rewards sit in the reward account until the wallet withdraws them.

ADA: questions and answers
Does delegating ADA lock it?
No. Delegation keeps the coins spendable; you can swap ADA from a delegated wallet without undelegating.
What does the stake key deposit mean?
Registering a stake key for the first delegation takes a refundable 2 ADA deposit. It is returned when you deregister the key.
