Exchange Litecoin (LTC) to Cardano (ADA)

A Cardano reward-account reference is not an ordinary payment destination. Prepare the correct ADA receiving instruction before paying the LTC deposit.

Prepare a payment destination before spending Litecoin

  1. Open the ADA account’s receive screen

Use the account that you intend to hold the purchased ADA. A wallet may show a payment address, a reward-account reference and pool details on different screens. Copy the receiving instruction from the payment account itself. If you are buying into a hosted account, obtain the service’s current deposit details rather than borrowing another user’s example.

  2. Establish the network environment

Cardano documentation separates mainnet from its test environments. A developer tutorial or test-wallet screenshot does not supply a destination for a real exchange. Check the wallet’s selected environment and the actual instruction you will submit. Do not try to make a test address acceptable by editing characters in its prefix.

  3. Keep the LTC payment on its own screen

The Litecoin deposit pays for the order; the ADA address receives the later result. Review the amount sent in LTC and the quoted amount received in ADA as separate quantities. Before confirming in the sending wallet, compare its recipient with the deposit instruction, not with the Cardano address you saved for payout.

What the Cardano screen might be showing

ReferenceRoleDecision for the payout
Payment addressReceives ordinary transfersObtain it from the intended account
Reward accountReceives protocol rewards rather than ordinary transaction paymentsDo not substitute it for a receive address
Pool identifierIdentifies a staking pool choiceNot your personal payout destination
Test environmentUsed for development and test ADADo not fund it through a real-asset order
Cardano’s address documentation distinguishes payment and reward roles; familiar staking terminology does not establish a receiving instruction.

Receiving ADA and choosing a stake pool are separate actions

You do not need to insert a pool identifier into the exchange’s payout address just because you plan to delegate later. Cardano describes delegation as retaining the owner’s ability to spend ADA. This concerns the protocol mechanism, not a guarantee about the withdrawal rules of a custodial investment product. Keep the account receiving the purchase separate from any later decision to use a service or delegate stake.

After the payout, inspect the receiving account’s transaction record and the amount credited before changing settings. Keep the exchange reference with the Litecoin funding transaction so you can explain the sequence if a status needs review. A reward panel showing no new reward is not evidence that the purchase itself failed; use the payment record for that question.

Preparing the Cardano account

Can a reward-account address receive the ADA I buy with LTC?
Cardano documents reward accounts as receiving protocol-distributed rewards, not ordinary incoming transaction payments. Use the payment address issued by your intended wallet or hosted recipient rather than copying a reference from its reward panel.
Do I have to choose a staking pool before the payout?
A pool choice is separate from the receiving payment instruction. First identify a valid recipient for the supported route and verify the payout. If you later delegate or use a custodial product, review that operation on its own terms.
