Give each address one job
- The Cardano deposit receives your ADA
- Read the funding instruction in the exchange before opening your sending wallet. This is the destination of the ADA payment, not the place where your SUI will arrive. Copy that instruction only into the Cardano send screen, with the selected asset still visible.
- The Sui account receives the payout
- Open the receiving account in your Sui wallet and check which account is active. If the wallet contains several accounts, a familiar account name alone is insufficient: compare the receive address with the destination entered in the exchange. Only use an account you intend to receive this payment into.
- A stake identifier describes another role
- Cardano documentation distinguishes payment credentials from stake credentials. A stake address used to inspect delegation is not a substitute for a payment destination. When retrieving the address for a transfer, use the relevant receive instruction rather than a staking dashboard or a copied delegation reference.
Passing a format check does not identify the owner
Sui documents its addresses as 32-byte hexadecimal values represented with a 0x prefix. That describes a format, not the person controlling the account. A correctly shaped string can still belong to a different wallet. Compare the destination to the receiving screen before funding the exchange; do not treat the absence of a validation error as proof of ownership.
Cardano and Sui instructions should be read within their own networks. Do not shorten a receiving address to make it resemble a saved contact or add characters to satisfy a form. If the wallet instruction is rejected, preserve the original address and investigate the discrepancy. Editing an unfamiliar string by guesswork removes the connection between what the wallet displayed and what you submit.
Where an address mismatch should send you next
| What you see | Useful check | Avoid this shortcut |
|---|---|---|
| A stake reference in Cardano | Return to the payment or receive screen for the intended operation | Using a delegation identifier as the exchange deposit destination |
| A rejected Sui destination | Compare the complete string with the original wallet receive instruction | Patching characters until the form stops reporting an error |
| Several Sui accounts | Select the intended account and compare its receiving address | Assuming the last account used is the correct recipient |
| A saved destination from a prior exchange | Review the current instruction and the asset it receives | Letting a saved label replace a network and account check |
ADA to SUI address questions
- Why does the form accept a Sui address that I do not recognize?
- Format validation can establish that a string fits an expected representation. It cannot establish that the account belongs to you. Compare the destination directly with your wallet’s receiving instruction. If you cannot identify the account, pause before sending ADA and resolve the recipient first.
- Should I enter the Sui address into the ADA withdrawal screen?
- The ADA withdrawal funds the exchange using the Cardano deposit instruction. Your Sui account is the separate payout destination. Reopen the exchange details and identify the two roles before continuing. A cross-asset exchange does not make the receiving network’s address a direct destination for the outgoing asset.
