Locate the DOT balance before planning the conversion
A wallet can present a familiar DOT ticker while the transfer screen carries the more important network detail. Polkadot documentation describes Hub as a system parachain for on-chain assets. Do not replace the current funding instruction with a saved assumption about where every DOT payment must be sent. Open the balance you actually hold and read the chain shown for its withdrawal.
The reference check for this direction used the provider’s STATEMINT network identifier for outgoing DOT and ETH for incoming ether. These are technical identifiers observed during review, not a permanent promise of availability. A wallet may use a different display label for the same supported route. If the correspondence is unclear, clarify it before paying rather than selecting whichever option contains DOT.
Separate preparation, exchange funding and Ethereum receipt
| Stage | Record to inspect | Question to settle |
|---|---|---|
| Locate funds | The wallet account and chain holding the transferable DOT | Does this balance support the currently offered funding instruction? |
| Prepare any separate move | Its own destination, transaction details and resulting balance | Has the preparatory operation actually completed before you fund the exchange? |
| Fund the exchange | The current DOT deposit instruction and outgoing transaction reference | Was this payment made through the specified network? |
| Receive ETH | The intended Ethereum account and payout record | Does the receiving network match the selected ETH route? |
Make the receiving side verifiable
- Choose the Ethereum account deliberately
Use the wallet’s receive function for the account that should hold the ETH. The Ethereum guide recommends copying the address rather than typing it manually. Check the receiving network as well as the destination string: an address alone is not a complete withdrawal instruction for a service supporting several networks.
- Keep two transaction histories distinguishable
Save the DOT transfer reference alongside the exchange reference. When the payout is available, inspect its separate Ethereum record. A successful outgoing DOT transaction answers a different question from whether ETH has reached the intended account. Do not search only for the DOT reference in an Ethereum explorer.
- Investigate the unresolved stage
If the wallet shows no outgoing payment, start with the sending account. If the DOT transfer exists but the exchange status is unclear, provide that transfer and the exchange reference to support. If a payout record exists, compare its network and destination with the receiving instruction. This narrows the question without creating another payment.
DOT funding and ETH receipt
- Does selecting DOT identify the correct sending chain?
- The ticker identifies the asset, but it does not replace the route’s network instruction. Check the wallet’s actual withdrawal option against the exchange form. If you must move funds first, treat that as a separate operation with its own verification, not as proof that the exchange has received a deposit.
- Will the ETH automatically appear in whichever network my wallet has open?
- The payout follows the selected receiving network and address. A wallet interface may show another account or network, so inspect the intended Ethereum view and the payout transaction. Changing the displayed network does not change where an already submitted payment was routed.
