What to know about TRON
TRX is the native coin of TRON, a delegated proof-of-stake network with 27 elected super representatives and a block every 3 seconds. Transactions on TRON are paid in resources rather than directly in coins: bandwidth for simple transfers and energy for smart-contract calls such as USDT transfers. An account gets a small amount of free bandwidth every day, and anything above it is paid by burning TRX, or covered by staking TRX for energy. The first transfer to a new address also activates the account, which costs the sender about 1 TRX. Because most TRC20 USDT moves on TRON, many people swap for TRX simply to have fuel for their USDT wallet.
