What to know about MultiversX
MultiversX, called Elrond until 2022, is a sharded proof-of-stake chain: transactions are processed in several shards plus a metachain that coordinates them, with six-second rounds. Its addresses use the bech32 format erd1… and are 62 characters long. The ecosystem also has herotags — readable names attached to an address in the xPortal app — and its own token standard, ESDT, used for every token other than EGLD. Before the mainnet, EGLD circulated as BEP2 and ERC20 tokens, and some old guides still mention them; the provider handles native EGLD on the MultiversX network, credited after the confirmations in the table.

EGLD mistakes that cost money
Entering a herotag instead of the erd1… address. Payouts go to the address itself.
Sending an ESDT token such as USDC on MultiversX to an EGLD deposit. Only EGLD is credited.
Following outdated instructions for ERC20 or BEP2 EGLD. Those versions were swapped to native EGLD years ago.
