USDC mistakes that cost money

Mixing up native USDC and bridged USDC.e on Polygon. Some apps accept only one of them; check which contract the receiving app expects before choosing the network.
Sending USDC on Base to an address that you only ever used on Ethereum without checking the wallet supports Base. The address is the same, but the funds appear only when the wallet shows the Base network.
Assuming 1 USDC always buys exactly 1 USDT. Both trade around a dollar, but the swap rate includes the service fee and the payout network fee.

What to know about USD Coin

USDC is Circle's dollar token, redeemable one-to-one for dollars held in reserve and issued natively on Ethereum, Solana, Base, Arbitrum, Polygon, Avalanche and many other chains. Circle also runs CCTP, which burns USDC on one chain and mints it on another, so native USDC does not have to rely on third-party wrapped versions. That distinction matters in practice: on Polygon the provider lists both native USDC and the older bridged USDC.e as separate networks, and they are different tokens with different contracts. Like Tether, Circle can block addresses. USDC is the stablecoin most often used on Coinbase, Base and Solana DeFi, so swaps into USDC usually start from SOL, ETH or USDT.
