The same Polygon network can contain different USDC assets
| Representation | Polygon contract | What to establish |
|---|---|---|
| Native USDC | 0x3c499c542cef5e3811e1192ce70d8cc03d5c3359 | Does the recipient request this issuer-native token? |
| Bridged USDC.e | 0x2791bca1f2de4661ed88a30c99a7a9449aa84174 | Does the recipient explicitly support this bridged asset? |
| A USDC name or logo | Not an asset identifier | Inspect the contract rather than trusting the label |
| A receiving address | The account getting the payout | Do not substitute either token contract for it |
Agree the receiving asset before comparing DOGE quotes
Start with the place where you will use the USDC. If it is a hosted account, read its deposit instruction for the exact blockchain and token representation. A wallet or service can show the label USDC while distinguishing assets by contract underneath. Choosing a network with a familiar name is therefore only part of the check. Do not copy a route used by a friend unless your own recipient asks for the same asset.
Circleโs documentation gives a concrete example of recipient-specific rules: Circle Mint rejects bridged USDC deposits. That policy belongs to Circle Mint and its named APIs; it is not a statement that every exchange rejects bridged tokens. Conversely, a payout route appearing in this exchange does not prove Circle Mint or any other recipient will credit it. Match both ends explicitly before funding the order with Dogecoin.
A short sequence for checking the payout
- Record what your recipient accepts
Write down the chain, asset name and published contract when one is supplied. For a personal wallet, inspect the actual token you intend to hold and the chain on which you can use it. A combined dollar valuation is not a substitute for those identifiers.
- Read the selected routeโs own contract
Compare the exchange route with that receiving instruction. If two options share a network family but identify different contracts, keep them separate. Do not assume that the service will bridge, unwrap or convert the received token later at no cost; such an operation needs its own confirmed support and terms.
- Keep the DOGE payment and payout evidence
The Dogecoin transfer pays the order, while the token payout is a different record on the selected chain. Retain both references with the order number. If a recipient has not credited USDC, explain the actual contract and payout network rather than describing the payment only as dollars or stablecoins.
Choosing the USDC representation
- Is every Polygon USDC balance the same asset?
- Circle documents native USDC and bridged USDC.e with separate Polygon contracts. A matching network and similar display name do not merge those assets. Check which contract the recipient supports and which one the selected route pays.
- Does receiving USDC mean I have withdrawn dollars to a bank?
- This route delivers the selected digital asset to its receiving address. A later sale, issuer redemption or bank transfer is a separate service with its own eligibility and terms. Do not include that later step in the exchange quote by assumption.
