What to know about Ethena USDe
USDe is a synthetic dollar, not a fiat-backed stablecoin. Ethena backs it with crypto collateral such as staked ETH and BTC and holds short perpetual futures of the same size, so the position stays roughly dollar-neutral; the funding paid on those shorts is the yield that goes to sUSDe holders. That design has a different risk profile from USDT or USDC: if funding turns negative for long periods, the backing earns less or costs money. Minting and redeeming USDe directly is limited to approved parties; everyone else trades it. The provider lists USDe on Ethereum, Mantle and TON, and TON deposits need a memo.
