XAUT is Tether's gold token: each one represents one troy ounce of physical gold held in a Swiss vault, with the specific bars listed on Tether's site. Its price therefore follows gold, not the dollar, and one XAUT costs as much as an ounce of gold — which is why the minimum swap is a few thousandths of a token. The provider lists XAUT on Ethereum, Mantle, Monad, Solana and TON, and TON deposits need a memo. XAUT on Ethereum has six decimals. Another gold token, PAX Gold (PAXG), is issued by Paxos and is not interchangeable with XAUT.
