Make two network selections, not one stablecoin assumption
- Locate the USDT you will actually send
Tether publishes supported protocols for its tokens. That list is a reference for asset identity, not a promise that every exchange route accepts every listed network. Read the withdrawal network of your own USDT balance and match it to the current funding choice in the exchange.
- Specify which USDC the destination accepts
Circle publishes USDC contract information by blockchain. Use the receiving account’s current deposit instruction to establish the intended network and token identity. A balance named USDC in a wallet is not enough evidence that a different receiving platform will credit that same representation.
- Read the route after both sides are selected
A reference check for this page used Ethereum for both outgoing USDT and incoming USDC. Other selections must be checked on their own current terms. Changing one side can change the available route, limits or calculation, so compare the result only after the asset and network choices are settled.
Compare token amounts without mixing in portfolio values
| Number | What to record | What it cannot prove alone |
|---|---|---|
| USDT funding amount | The amount that the deposit instruction should receive | The total cost of a withdrawal from another platform |
| Sender fee | The fee shown by the actual sending wallet or service | The USDC amount the exchange will pay |
| Displayed USDC result | The current calculation for the exact selected route | A permanent one-for-one conversion guarantee |
| Portfolio value in dollars | The wallet’s valuation at the time it is viewed | The number of USDC tokens transferred to the recipient |
A stablecoin conversion still needs a current quote
Do not enter a funding amount and assume the same number of USDC will arrive. Read the amount displayed for the selected direction and any current conditions before paying. The fact that two assets are described using the dollar does not establish the price of a specific exchange transaction. Nor does a portfolio display establish the settlement terms of your route.
After payment, keep the USDT transfer record, exchange reference and USDC payout record distinct. Verify the receiving token and destination against the instruction you selected. If a wallet valuation looks different, first compare the actual token quantity and account instead of diagnosing a fee from the dollar display alone. If the records disagree, use the exact transfer details when asking support to investigate.
Comparing a USDT to USDC conversion
- Is exchanging USDT for USDC just moving the same token?
- No. They are different assets, and each side also has a network selection. Read the sending instruction and receiving requirement independently. A cross-asset exchange should not be treated as an ordinary transfer between two accounts merely because both token names refer to dollars.
- Can I compare offers using only a displayed percentage?
- Compare the current receiving amount for the same funding amount and compatible networks, while keeping the sender’s fee separate. A percentage without those details may describe a different operation. Do not assume the shown estimate remains valid after changing the network or the amount you can actually send.
