Swap Monero (XMR) to Tether (USDT)
Selling XMR for USDT turns a private, volatile coin into a dollar-pegged one that almost every exchange and P2P desk accepts. Send XMR from your wallet and receive USDT on TRC20, ERC20 or BEP20 at a floating rate, without an account.
XMR to USDT: what matters
Selling XMR for USDT is how Monero holders get to a dollar balance that any exchange or P2P desk will take. The payout goes out on TRC20, ERC20 or BEP20 — Solana is not offered for Monero pairs — and its network fee is a flat amount deducted from the USDT, so on small swaps the network choice changes the result noticeably; the widget shows it for each network. On the Monero side, send from the unlocked balance and pay the exact amount: a 'send all' sweep takes the fee out of the deposit.
Monero hides senders, receivers and amounts on its own chain: ring signatures (16 members since the August 2022 upgrade), one-time stealth addresses and RingCT. That privacy covers only the Monero leg — the coin you swap from stays as visible as it always was.
Which USDT network to receive on
USDT exists on several blockchains. The network fee is always paid in the network's native coin (TRX, ETH, BNB or SOL), never in USDT itself. The rule that matters: the network must match what the wallet or service on the other side supports.
| Network | Address | Gas | Speed | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| TRC20 TRON | starts with T (34 characters) | paid in TRX via Energy/Bandwidth — a wallet with zero TRX usually cannot send USDT at all | 3-second blocks | receiving on most CEX and P2P desks; the default USDT rail in many regions |
| ERC20 Ethereum | 0x… (42 characters) | paid in ETH; the most expensive option when the network is busy | 12-second blocks | DeFi on Ethereum, hardware-wallet cold storage, large amounts |
| BEP20 BNB Smart Chain | 0x… — identical format to ERC20 | paid in BNB; usually low | sub-second to ~1-second blocks | wallets that already hold BNB for gas, BSC DeFi |
Exact fees move with network load — the widget always shows the current amount you will receive.
How to swap XMR to USDT, step by step
- 1
Select XMR → USDT in the widget and enter the amount. It shows the current minimum and the USDT you will receive. This pair is float-rate only, with every fee already included in the amount you receive.
- 2
Choose the USDT receive network (TRC20, ERC20, BEP20) and paste an address for that network. Decide by where the USDT goes next.
- 3
Create the order and send exactly the shown amount of XMR to the deposit address. Bookmark the order link — it shows the live status.
- 4
Wait for confirmations: a block about every 2 minutes; received XMR stays locked for 10 blocks (about 20 minutes) before it can be spent. The liquidity provider sets how many are required; the order page shows the live count.
- 5
USDT is sent to your address automatically. On the receiving side: depends on the network you pick. The transaction hash appears on the order page.
Common XMR → USDT mistakes
Freshly received XMR — and the change from your own last payment — is locked for 10 blocks. If the wallet says the balance is locked, wait about 20 minutes; nothing is wrong.
Do not look for a separate payment ID field. Long payment IDs were removed from Monero in 2019 (v0.15); for your own wallet a subaddress is enough, and an integrated address must be pasted whole.
A wallet that has not finished syncing shows zero even after the payout. Let it sync (or restore from the right restore height) before assuming the XMR is missing — the payout hash is on the order page.
ERC20 and BEP20 addresses look identical (0x…). If the receiving service only supports one of them, funds sent on the other network may be lost or require a paid manual recovery.
Your wallet needs the native coin for gas: TRX on TRON, ETH on Ethereum, BNB on BSC, SOL on Solana.
Monero vs Tether: the networks side by side
| XMR | USDT | |
|---|---|---|
| Network | Monero mainnet (proof of work, RandomX); private by default | multi-chain stablecoin issued by Tether |
| Blocks / confirmation | a block about every 2 minutes; received XMR stays locked for 10 blocks (about 20 minutes) before it can be spent | depends on the network you pick |
| Address format | 95 characters: primary address starts with 4, subaddresses with 8; an integrated address is 106 characters and starts with 4 | depends on the network you pick |
| Network fee | set by the wallet from the transaction size and the network's dynamic fee; usually cents | always paid in the network's native coin (TRX, ETH, BNB or SOL), never in USDT itself |
| Memo / tag | not used | not needed to receive |
| Wallets | Feather, Cake Wallet, Monero GUI, Monerujo | Trust Wallet, TronLink (TRC20), MetaMask (ERC20/BEP20), Phantom (SOL) |
XMR to USDT: questions people ask
How much USDT do I get for 1 XMR?
Roughly the XMR market price minus the gateway's fees and the payout network fee. The table above shows market-price references; the widget quotes the exact USDT amount for your network.
Can I send XMR to the deposit from an exchange account?
It works if the exchange sends the exact amount in time, but many deduct a withdrawal fee from the amount. Sending from your own wallet is more predictable.
Will the USDT payout be traceable?
Yes. USDT on TRON, Ethereum or BNB Smart Chain is fully public; only the Monero leg of the swap is private.
How long do XMR confirmations take?
A block about every 2 minutes; received XMR stays locked for 10 blocks (about 20 minutes) before it can be spent. The liquidity provider decides how many confirmations are required; the order page shows the live count.
Which USDT network is cheapest to receive on?
The payout network fee is deducted from the USDT you receive and differs by network; the widget shows it for the network you pick. Choose the one your next wallet or exchange supports.
Can I receive USDT on Solana?
Not for Monero pairs: the payout is available on TRC20, ERC20 and BEP20.
Is there a fixed rate for XMR to USDT?
No, Monero pairs are float-only.
Do I need to register?
No, only your USDT address. A high-risk deposit can be held under the AML policy.
Step-by-step guides
KOT.CASH vs a centralised exchange for XMR → USDT
| KOT.CASH | Centralised exchange | |
|---|---|---|
| Account & KYC | No sign-up; no ID documents for standard swaps | Account required; regulated exchanges must verify identity |
| Steps | One order: send XMR, receive USDT at your own address | Deposit XMR → wait for credit → trade → request USDT withdrawal |
| Custody | Funds pass through the service only for the swap | Funds sit in the exchange account until you withdraw |
| Withdrawal | Automatic once the deposit is confirmed | Withdrawal fee; limits, holds or extra checks are possible |
| USDT network | Chosen per order: TRC20 / ERC20 / BEP20 | Depends on which withdrawal networks the exchange supports |
| Cost | Float rate only; service fee, gateway costs and payout network fee are already in the amount you receive | Trading fee, spread and withdrawal fee — vary by exchange and volume |
| Where a CEX is better | No fiat, limit orders or margin — crypto-to-crypto swaps only | Fiat on/off-ramp, limit orders, very large volumes |
