Swap USDT to Cosmos (ATOM)
Get native ATOM on Cosmos Hub for USDT sent from TRC20, ERC20, BEP20 or Solana. Paste a cosmos1โฆ address from Keplr, Leap or Cosmostation and the ATOM is sent automatically.
Which USDT network to send from
USDT exists on several blockchains. The network fee is always paid in the network's native coin (TRX, ETH, BNB or SOL), never in USDT itself. The rule that matters: the network must match what the wallet or service on the other side supports.
| Network | Address | Gas | Speed | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| TRC20 TRON | starts with T (34 characters) | paid in TRX via Energy/Bandwidth โ a wallet with zero TRX usually cannot send USDT at all | 3-second blocks | receiving on most CEX and P2P desks; the default USDT rail in many regions |
| ERC20 Ethereum | 0xโฆ (42 characters) | paid in ETH; the most expensive option when the network is busy | 12-second blocks | DeFi on Ethereum, hardware-wallet cold storage, large amounts |
| BEP20 BNB Smart Chain | 0xโฆ โ identical format to ERC20 | paid in BNB; usually low | sub-second to ~1-second blocks | wallets that already hold BNB for gas, BSC DeFi |
| SOL Solana (SPL token) | base58, 32โ44 characters | paid in SOL; fractions of a cent, but the wallet needs a little SOL | ~0.4-second slots | cheap frequent transfers if you already use Phantom/Solflare |
Exact fees move with network load โ the widget always shows the current amount you will receive.
USDT to ATOM: what matters
ATOM is the staking and governance coin of Cosmos Hub, and most people who swap USDT into it plan to stake. The practical catch is memos: Cosmos exchanges identify deposits by memo, while your own Keplr or Leap wallet does not need one. Because the standard swap form has no field for a payout memo, send the ATOM to your own wallet and move it on from there if it is meant for an exchange.
USDT is a centrally issued token: Tether can freeze addresses on request of law enforcement. That is a property of USDT itself, not of the exchange you use.
ATOM is the staking and gas token of the Cosmos Hub, the first chain of the IBC ecosystem.
Tether vs Cosmos: the networks side by side
| USDT | ATOM | |
|---|---|---|
| Network | multi-chain stablecoin issued by Tether | Cosmos Hub |
| Blocks / confirmation | depends on the network you pick | about 6 seconds per block, instant finality |
| Address format | depends on the network you pick | cosmos1โฆ |
| Network fee | always paid in the network's native coin (TRX, ETH, BNB or SOL), never in USDT itself | small, paid in ATOM (uatom) |
| Memo / tag | not used | not needed to receive |
| Wallets | Trust Wallet, TronLink (TRC20), MetaMask (ERC20/BEP20), Phantom (SOL) | Keplr, Leap, Cosmostation, Ledger |
How to swap USDT to ATOM, step by step
- 1
Select USDT โ ATOM in the widget and enter the amount. It shows the current minimum, the ATOM you will receive and the rate type (1% float or 1.5% fixed) before anything is sent.
- 2
Pick the network your USDT is on (TRC20, ERC20, BEP20, SOL). You must send from that exact network, and gas is paid in its native coin.
- 3
Paste your ATOM address โ cosmos1โฆ. Copy it from your wallet (Keplr, Leap, Cosmostation, Ledger) and compare the first and last characters.
- 4
Create the order and send exactly the shown amount of USDT to the deposit address. Bookmark the order link โ it shows the live status.
- 5
Wait for confirmations: depends on the network you pick. The liquidity provider sets how many are required; the order page shows the live count.
- 6
ATOM is sent to your address automatically. On the receiving side: about 6 seconds per block, instant finality. The transaction hash appears on the order page.
Common USDT โ ATOM mistakes
ERC20 and BEP20 addresses look identical (0xโฆ). If the receiving service only supports one of them, funds sent on the other network may be lost or require a paid manual recovery.
Your wallet needs the native coin for gas: TRX on TRON, ETH on Ethereum, BNB on BSC, SOL on Solana.
Check the contract: real USDT on TRON is TR7NHqjeKQxGTCi8q8ZY4pL8otSzgjLj6t, on Ethereum 0xdAC17F958D2ee523a2206206994597C13D831ec7. Fake 'USDT' tokens airdropped to wallets are worthless.
Send from the Cosmos Hub itself. ATOM held on Osmosis or another IBC chain must be moved back to the Hub first.
Staked ATOM has a 21-day unbonding period โ plan the swap after undelegation completes.
KOT.CASH vs a centralised exchange for USDT โ ATOM
| KOT.CASH | Centralised exchange | |
|---|---|---|
| Account & KYC | No sign-up; no ID documents for standard swaps | Account required; regulated exchanges must verify identity |
| Steps | One order: send USDT, receive ATOM at your own address | Deposit USDT โ wait for credit โ trade โ request ATOM withdrawal |
| Custody | Funds pass through the service only for the swap | Funds sit in the exchange account until you withdraw |
| Withdrawal | Automatic once the deposit is confirmed | Withdrawal fee; limits, holds or extra checks are possible |
| Cost | 1% float or 1.5% fixed + network fees; final amount shown upfront | Trading fee, spread and withdrawal fee โ vary by exchange and volume |
| Where a CEX is better | No fiat, limit orders or margin โ crypto-to-crypto swaps only | Fiat on/off-ramp, limit orders, very large volumes |
This compares how the processes work, not any specific exchange. Exchange tariffs change โ check them on the platform itself.
USDT to ATOM: questions people ask
Can I send ATOM straight to an exchange that needs a memo?
Not with the standard swap form, which has no payout memo field. Multi-Hop and Split Swap forms do have one; otherwise receive to your own wallet first.
Does staked ATOM unlock immediately?
No. Unbonding on Cosmos Hub takes about 21 days, during which the ATOM earns nothing and cannot be sent.
How long do USDT confirmations take?
Depends on the network you pick. The liquidity provider decides how many confirmations are required; the order page shows the live count.
Does the payout need a memo?
Not when you receive to your own wallet. Exchange deposit addresses for ATOM usually require a memo, and the standard swap form has no payout memo field โ so receive to your wallet first.
Which address prefix is correct?
cosmos1โฆ for Cosmos Hub. Addresses of other Cosmos chains (osmo1โฆ, celestia1โฆ) are different networks.
Can I stake ATOM right after?
Yes, in your wallet. Remember that unbonding staked ATOM later takes about three weeks.

USDT and ATOM networks: confirmations and memo
Built from the liquidity provider's network list as of 2026-10-20. "Confirmations" is how many blocks the provider waits for before crediting a deposit; the order page shows the exact number for your order. If the memo column names a tag, a deposit without it cannot be matched automatically.
