Litecoin → Monero: when it makes sense

LTC to XMR suits people who already use Litecoin as a cheap, quick rail: blocks every 2.5 minutes and fees of cents get the deposit confirmed fast. Send a regular transaction rather than from an MWEB private balance — peg-outs from MWEB can be delayed — and paste a fresh Monero subaddress for the payout. Litecoin's MWEB and Monero are both described as privacy features, but they work differently: MWEB is optional inside Litecoin, while every Monero transaction is private by default.

Four times faster blocks than Bitcoin with similar UTXO mechanics — LTC is a common 'cheap rail' for moving value.

Monero hides senders, receivers and amounts on its own chain: ring signatures (16 members since the August 2022 upgrade), one-time stealth addresses and RingCT. That privacy covers only the Monero leg — the coin you swap from stays as visible as it always was.

Step-by-step guides

How to swap LTC to XMR, step by step

  1. 1

Select LTC → XMR in the widget and enter the amount. It shows the current minimum and the XMR you will receive. This pair is float-rate only, with every fee already included in the amount you receive.

  2. 2

Paste your XMR address — 95 characters: primary address starts with 4, subaddresses with 8; an integrated address is 106 characters and starts with 4. Copy it from your wallet (Feather, Cake Wallet, Monero GUI, Monerujo) and compare the first and last characters.

  3. 3

Create the order and send exactly the shown amount of LTC to the deposit address. Bookmark the order link — it shows the live status.

  4. 4

Wait for confirmations: about 2.5 minutes per block. The liquidity provider sets how many are required; the order page shows the live count.

  5. 5

XMR is sent to your address automatically. On the receiving side: a block about every 2 minutes; received XMR stays locked for 10 blocks (about 20 minutes) before it can be spent. The transaction hash appears on the order page.

Common LTC → XMR mistakes

  • Send a regular transaction, not from an MWEB (ltcmweb1…) private balance — peg-outs from MWEB can be delayed.

  • Old 3… P2SH addresses were re-mapped to M… years ago; if your wallet shows a 3… LTC address, update the wallet.

  • Freshly received XMR — and the change from your own last payment — is locked for 10 blocks. If the wallet says the balance is locked, wait about 20 minutes; nothing is wrong.

  • Do not look for a separate payment ID field. Long payment IDs were removed from Monero in 2019 (v0.15); for your own wallet a subaddress is enough, and an integrated address must be pasted whole.

LTC to XMR: questions people ask

How many LTC confirmations does the swap wait for?

The gateway decides; the order page shows the live status. With 2.5-minute blocks the deposit is usually confirmed well within half an hour.

Is LTC to XMR cheaper than BTC to XMR?

The Litecoin network fee you pay to send is usually much lower than Bitcoin's. The gateway's own fees are built into both quotes, so compare the XMR amounts in the widget.

How long do LTC confirmations take?

About 2.5 minutes per block. The liquidity provider decides how many confirmations are required; the order page shows the live count.

Can I pay from my MWEB balance?

Send a regular Litecoin transaction to the ltc1… / M… / L… deposit address. Peg-outs from an MWEB balance can be delayed, which can push the payment past the order window.

Is there a fixed rate for LTC to XMR?

No, Monero pairs are float-only; the widget shows the XMR amount with all fees included.

Do I need to register?

No, only your Monero address. A high-risk deposit can be held under the AML policy.

Is LTC to XMR available in split swap?

No. Monero works in the simple swap only.
