What to know about Stellar
Stellar is a payments network that closes a ledger roughly every five seconds using the Stellar Consensus Protocol, with fees of 0.00001 XLM per operation. Accounts must hold a minimum balance: a base of 1 XLM (two base reserves of 0.5 XLM), plus 0.5 XLM for every trustline, offer or other entry. That is why a new Stellar address cannot be funded with a tiny payment and why the full balance can never be sent. Exchanges and swap services identify incoming XLM by memo, and Stellar supports several memo types, most often a text or numeric ID. Why can't I send all of my XLM?
