Exchange Stellar (XLM) to Bitcoin

A Stellar transaction can contain more than one operation. When checking an exchange deposit, find the operation that paid the specified XLM recipient.

What the funding record must establish

RecordWhat it tells youWhat still needs checking
Transaction referenceWhich Stellar transaction to inspectThe particular payment relevant to the order
Operation typeWhat action was performedWhether it is the intended payment
Asset and amountWhat the selected operation transferredThat it matches the order’s XLM instruction
DestinationWho received that operation’s paymentThat it is the deposit recipient for this order
Memo when requiredAdditional information attached to the transactionThat the type and value match the supplied instruction
A transaction status is useful evidence, but it does not identify the correct order recipient and amount on its own.

Read the action that matters to the deposit

Stellar documentation describes transactions as containers for operations. Ordinary transactions can bundle multiple actions; smart contract transactions have a different operation limit. You do not need to construct such a bundle to exchange XLM. The practical consequence when checking a source withdrawal is simply to open its details instead of treating one headline as a complete description of the deposit. Find the relevant payment and keep the surrounding transaction reference with it.

The Horizon operation object documentation provides transaction linkage and operation-specific information. An explorer or source platform may expose those details using different labels. If the source history only shows an internal withdrawal identifier, obtain the actual network record when it becomes available. Do not replace it with a different successful transaction from the same day. Likewise, an operation involving an issued asset is not evidence that the XLM amount requested by the order reached the recipient.

Review a disputed deposit without creating another payment

  1. Start from the existing source record

Open the transaction linked by the sending wallet or service. Check that it belongs to the withdrawal being investigated, rather than an unrelated entry with a similar time or balance change. Preserve its full reference. A screenshot of a rounded portfolio value cannot replace the operation’s asset and amount.

  2. Match the payment instruction

Compare the payment destination with the exchange deposit instruction. Check the asset and quantity, plus the required memo if the order supplied one. Stellar’s general support for optional memos does not cancel an order-specific requirement. Do not infer that every payment in a successful transaction funded the same exchange; read the actual recipients.

  3. Keep Bitcoin delivery separate

Once a Bitcoin payout has been issued, inspect that payout’s own reference and receiving address on its network. The Stellar operation documents the input side, not delivery of BTC. If the input record appears correct but the order remains unresolved, provide the order identifier, transaction reference and relevant payment details to support. Do not send a duplicate deposit just to change the displayed status.

Finding the exchange funding operation

A Stellar transaction is successful. Does that prove this order was paid?
It does not identify the order on its own. Confirm that the relevant operation transferred the required XLM amount to the supplied deposit recipient with the instructed memo when applicable.
Should I send XLM again if the status has not changed?
First inspect the existing payment and ask for a review using its records. A second payment creates another transfer; it does not correct the recipient or identifying information of the first one.
