To swap HBAR to USDT, create an HBAR โ USDT order in the swap widget, paste your USDT address and send HBAR from your Hedera account to the deposit account with the memo from the order page. On 21 October 2026 the minimum was about 361 HBAR (roughly $30 at $0.083), deposits were credited after one confirmation, and the payout fee was 1.3 USDT on TRON or 0.15 USDT on BNB Chain. Processing was quoted at 2โ4 minutes.
Hedera addresses look different from every other chain
Hedera accounts are identified by an account ID in the form shard.realm.number, for example 0.0.1234567. Almost every account lives in shard 0, realm 0, so in practice you see 0.0. followed by a number. Accounts can also have an EVM address alias (0xโฆ, 40 hex characters) so that EVM tools and wallets like MetaMask can interact with them. Both point to the same account.
| Account ID | EVM address alias | |
|---|---|---|
| Format | 0.0.1234567 | 0xโฆ (40 hex characters) |
| Where you see it | HashPack, Blade, Kabila, exchanges | MetaMask on Hedera, EVM apps, some wallets |
| Created | When the account is created | Derived from an ECDSA key or set on creation |
| Used for this swap's deposit | Yes โ with the memo | Use the format the order page shows |
The order page gives you the deposit in the form the provider expects. Copy it as shown. If your wallet asks for an account ID and the order shows one, there is nothing to convert.
The memo identifies your order
Hedera deposits to exchanges and swap services are made to a shared account, and the memo (Hedera calls it the transaction memo) tells the service whose payment it is. The provider's network list marks HBAR as a memo coin. Paste the order's memo into the Memo field of HashPack, Blade or your exchange's withdrawal form. Without it, the HBAR arrives in the shared account unassigned, and matching it requires a support request with the transaction ID.
Fees on Hedera are fixed in dollars
Unlike gas markets on other chains, Hedera sets fees in US dollars and converts them to HBAR at the current exchange rate. A simple HBAR transfer (CryptoTransfer) is priced at about $0.0001. That is why sending HBAR costs a tiny, predictable amount regardless of how busy the network is. Wallets show the HBAR equivalent before you confirm.
Step by step
- In the widget pick HBAR to send and USDT on TRON or BNB Chain to receive. Enter at least the minimum.
- Paste your USDT address and create the order.
- Copy the deposit account and the memo from the order page.
- In HashPack or Blade choose Send, paste the deposit account, the amount and the memo. Review and sign.
- Hedera reaches finality in a few seconds; the deposit is credited after one confirmation.
- USDT is sent within a few minutes; the order page shows the payout hash.
Staked HBAR and other cases
- Staking on Hedera does not lock coins. Staked HBAR stays in your account and can be sent at any time; you only stop earning rewards on the part you send.
- Tokens on Hedera (HTS) such as USDC on Hedera are separate assets. They need their own order if supported; sending them to an HBAR deposit does not count as HBAR.
- Exchange withdrawals: choose the Hedera network, fill in the memo field with the order's memo, and make sure the amount after the withdrawal fee meets the order.
- Account auto-creation: Hedera can create an account automatically when HBAR is sent to an alias that does not exist yet. That matters for receiving HBAR, not for this swap, where you only send.
Which payout to choose
The USDT payout fee is 0.15 USDT on BNB Chain and 1.3 USDT on TRON. On a $30 sale that is 0.5% versus 4.3%. Choose TRON only if the next recipient requires TRC20; otherwise BNB Chain keeps more. On large amounts the choice barely matters.
