Kaspa Deposits: Why 1,000 Confirmations Take Minutes, Not Days

Kaspa is a blockDAG with 10 blocks per second since the Crescendo upgrade, so 1,000 confirmations is about 100 seconds. What that means for KAS deposits and swap timing.

Timeline of a Kaspa deposit: send, first inclusion in about a second, 1,000 confirmations in about 100 seconds, then swap processing.

A requirement of 1,000 confirmations sounds like a long wait, but on Kaspa it is roughly a minute and a half. Kaspa is a proof-of-work blockDAG: instead of one chain where each block has a single parent, blocks reference several parents and are ordered by the GHOSTDAG protocol. Since the Crescendo hard fork in May 2025 the network produces about 10 blocks per second, so a thousand blocks pass in around 100 seconds. The liquidity provider behind KOT.CASH uses exactly that figure for KAS deposits.

Why Kaspa counts so many confirmations

On Bitcoin, one confirmation means one new block on top of yours, about ten minutes of mining work. On Kaspa each block represents a tenth of a second of work, so one block carries far less security than a Bitcoin block. Receiving services compensate by waiting for many more of them. What matters for safety is the amount of work piled on top of a transaction, not the number of blocks as such; a thousand Kaspa blocks at 10 per second are a little under two minutes of the network's total hashrate.

In a DAG, “confirmations” are measured with the blue score or DAA score — counters that grow with every block the protocol accepts into the ordered history. A transaction has N confirmations when the virtual tip's score exceeds the score of the block that included it by N.

Before Crescendo, when Kaspa ran at one block per second, the same 1,000 confirmations took about 17 minutes. Guides written before mid-2025 may still quote that figure.

Why the swap still shows a processing estimate of minutes

The order page shows the provider's processing estimate for the whole route, not only the KAS side. For KAS to USDT the provider currently states 18–20 minutes. That includes its internal handling and the payout on TRON or another network. The KAS confirmations themselves are rarely the bottleneck.

Practical points for KAS deposits

  • Addresses start with kaspa: followed by a bech32-style string, for example kaspa:qr…. Copy it whole, including the prefix if your wallet expects it.
  • Minimum amount: for KAS to USDT it is about 802 KAS at the moment. Smaller deposits cannot be processed automatically.
  • Fees on Kaspa are based on transaction mass; ordinary transfers cost a tiny amount of KAS. Wallets with many small UTXOs build heavier transactions, as on Bitcoin.
  • Wallets: Kaspium, KasWare, Kaspa NG and hardware wallets with Kaspa support all show the transaction ID, which you can look up on a Kaspa explorer.
  • Exchange withdrawals of KAS sometimes take longer than the network itself because exchanges batch them.

How to check a KAS transaction

Paste the transaction ID into a Kaspa explorer. It shows whether the transaction is accepted and its block's blue score; compare it with the current score to estimate confirmations. If the explorer cannot find the transaction a minute after sending, it most likely was not broadcast — check the wallet's history and resend only if it shows as failed. The Kaspa transaction guide walks through the explorer fields.

Selling KAS on KOT.CASH

Use the Simple Swap form and choose KAS on the send side and the coin and network you want to receive. The order page shows the deposit address — no memo is needed for KAS. After about 1,000 blocks the deposit counts, and the payout follows; the payout network fee is included in the quote. The deposit confirmations table lists KAS next to the other networks for comparison.

FAQ

Why does a Kaspa deposit need 1,000 confirmations?

Kaspa produces about 10 blocks per second, so each block carries little work. 1,000 blocks add up to about 100 seconds of network work.

How long do 1,000 Kaspa confirmations take?

About 100 seconds since the Crescendo upgrade in May 2025; about 17 minutes before it.

What is a blockDAG?

A structure where blocks can have several parents and are ordered by a protocol (GHOSTDAG on Kaspa) instead of forming a single chain.

Does KAS need a memo?

No. Kaspa deposits are identified by address.

What is the minimum to swap KAS?

About 802 KAS for KAS to USDT at the time of writing.
