How to Swap POL (ex-MATIC) to USDT on Polygon or Ethereum

To swap POL to USDT, create a POL → USDT order in the swap widget, choose whether you are sending POL on Polygon PoS or POL on Ethereum, and send it to the deposit address. On 21 October 2026 the provider's minimum for POL on Polygon to USDT on Polygon was 24 POL (payout fee 0.07 USDT) and to USDT on TRON 71 POL (payout fee 1.3 USDT). POL traded near $0.094. Polygon deposits were credited after 60 confirmations, about two minutes.

MATIC, POL and the two networks

On 4 September 2024 Polygon replaced MATIC with POL as the gas and staking token of Polygon PoS. On the Polygon PoS chain itself the change was automatic: the native coin your wallet showed as MATIC became POL, one for one. On Ethereum, MATIC is an ERC20 token that holders migrate to POL through the official Polygon migration contract; exchanges migrated customer balances themselves. That leaves three things you might hold:

The provider's network list for POL contains exactly two options: Polygon PoS (shown as MATIC network) and Ethereum ERC20. Pick the one where your coins are.

Costs and timing by source network

The cheapest combination is staying inside Polygon: POL on Polygon to USDT on Polygon, with a payout fee of seven cents. Sending POL from Ethereum has the opposite problem: the swap is fine, but your own ERC20 transfer costs Ethereum gas, which can be more than a small POL balance is worth. Check with the gas fee calculator before sending a few dollars of ERC20 POL.

Gas: POL pays for itself on Polygon

On Polygon PoS, POL is the gas coin, so sending POL needs only POL. Leave a little for the fee — a transfer costs a fraction of a cent, more during gas spikes. If you also hold USDT or other tokens on Polygon, keep some POL to move them later. On Ethereum, ERC20 POL needs ETH for gas.

Step by step

1. Choose POL on the network you hold and USDT on the network you want. Enter the amount.
2. Paste your USDT address (0x… for Polygon, T… for TRON) and create the order.
3. Switch your wallet to the same network as in the widget — Polygon (chain ID 137) or Ethereum — and send POL to the deposit address.
4. Wait for confirmations: 60 Polygon blocks at about 2 seconds each, or 6 Ethereum blocks.
5. USDT is paid out in a few minutes; the provider quoted 2–4 minutes for Polygon routes.

Mistakes specific to POL

• Unmigrated MATIC on Ethereum. If your Ethereum wallet still shows MATIC, migrate first; MATIC ERC20 is a different contract from POL ERC20.
• Wrong network in MetaMask. POL on Polygon and POL on Ethereum share the 0x address; sending on the wrong one does not reach the order.
• Staked POL. POL delegated to a validator through the staking dashboard is locked on Ethereum and has an unbonding period; it must be unstaked and withdrawn before you can swap it.
• Exchange labels. Some exchanges still call the Polygon network 'MATIC' in their withdrawal menus. That is the network name, not the token; it is the right choice for native POL.
