Transaction Hash Identifier: Find the Network and Explorer

A transaction hash (TxID) does not say which blockchain it belongs to, and support teams, exchanges and order pages often show it without the network name. Its format narrows the choice down fast: 0x plus 64 hex characters is an EVM transaction, 64 hex characters without a prefix is a UTXO chain, TRON or XRP, an 88-character Base58 string is Solana. Paste the hash and open it in the explorer that fits.

Links only: nothing is fetched by this page. The explorer that finds the transaction tells you the network, status and number of confirmations.

How to tell networks apart by the hash format

Most blockchains hash a transaction with SHA-256 or Keccak-256 and show the 32-byte result as 64 hexadecimal characters. The difference is in how they write it. Ethereum and every EVM network โ€” BNB Smart Chain, Polygon, Arbitrum, Base, OP Mainnet, Avalanche C-Chain โ€” add the 0x prefix. Bitcoin, Litecoin, Dogecoin and Bitcoin Cash write the same 64 characters without a prefix, and so do TRON, Cardano and Kaspa. The XRP Ledger and Cosmos chains conventionally show them in upper case.

Some networks use a different encoding altogether. A Solana transaction is identified by its signature: 64 bytes in Base58, usually 87 or 88 characters with no 0, O, I or l. Sui and NEAR use a 32-byte digest in Base58 (43โ€“44 characters). Algorand writes 52 characters of Aโ€“Z and 2โ€“7. Hedera uses the payer account and a timestamp, like 0.0.123456@1700000000.123456789.

Why one hash cannot be pinned to a single chain

An EVM transaction hash has the same shape on every EVM network, and the same wallet address works on all of them. That is why a USDT transfer you thought you made on BNB Smart Chain may in fact be on Ethereum, or the other way round. The hash exists only on the chain where the transaction was broadcast, so open the candidates one by one: the explorer that finds it shows the network, the status, the block and the number of confirmations.

For 64-character hashes without 0x the same logic applies across UTXO chains, TRON and the others. If none of the explorers find it, the most common reasons are a hash copied with a missing character, a transaction that was never broadcast (it stayed in the wallet as pending) or an internal transfer inside an exchange, which never reaches the blockchain at all.

What to do once you find the transaction

  • Check the status: success, failed or pending. A failed EVM transaction still pays gas but moves no tokens.
  • Compare the recipient with the deposit address shown on your order or exchange page, character by character.
  • For tokens, look at the token transfer section, not only the native value: a USDT transfer shows 0 ETH or 0 TRX as the value.
  • Count the confirmations. Services credit a deposit only after their required number โ€” the KOT.CASH order page updates on its own when that happens.

If you sent coins to a KOT.CASH order and the status looks wrong, write to support with the order link and the hash: it is a public identifier and safe to share.

Frequently asked questions

+Is a transaction hash the same as a TxID?

Yes. Wallets and explorers call it a transaction hash, TxID, transaction ID or, on Solana, a signature. It identifies one transaction and is public.

+Why does my hash start with 0x on one site and not on another?

EVM chains write the prefix, Bitcoin-style chains do not. Some exchanges strip it. If a 64-character hash is not found on a UTXO explorer, try it with 0x on Etherscan or BscScan.

+Can a transaction hash be used to steal funds?

No. It only points to a transaction that is already public on the blockchain. Never share a seed phrase or private key; a hash is fine to send to support.

+The explorer says the transaction is not found. What now?

Wait a minute and retry, check the network, and make sure the hash is complete. If your wallet shows it as pending for a long time, it may never have reached the network.

+Does this page look the hash up for me?

No. It analyses the format locally and gives you links; the explorer you open does the lookup.
