What to know about Mantle
MNT is the gas and governance token of Mantle, an Ethereum layer-2 that grew out of BitDAO; BIT tokens were converted to MNT one-to-one in 2023. Unlike most rollups, Mantle charges gas in its own token rather than ETH. The provider lists MNT on four networks: as the native coin of Mantle, as an ERC20 token on Ethereum, as a bridged token on Solana, and on HyperEVM for deposits only. That spread is unusual and makes network choice the main thing to get right: the Ethereum and Mantle versions both sit at 0x addresses, while the Solana version needs a base58 address.
