What to know about Compound
COMP governs Compound, one of the first lending protocols on Ethereum, and its 2020 launch with rewards for borrowers and lenders started the 'liquidity mining' era. Users of Compound still earn COMP, but it accrues inside the protocol until it is claimed, so the balance shown in Compound's app may not be in the wallet yet. Voting power works by delegation, which leaves the tokens in place. Older Compound v2 deposits are represented by cTokens such as cUSDC, and v3 markets track balances inside the market contract; neither is COMP. The provider handles COMP as an ERC20 on Ethereum.
