What to know about Aave
AAVE governs the Aave lending protocol and backs its safety module, which covers shortfalls if loans go bad. The token replaced LEND in 2020 at 100 LEND per AAVE, which is why some very old wallets still show LEND. Inside Aave, deposits are represented by aTokens, such as aEthAAVE for supplied AAVE, and staked AAVE in the safety module appears as stkAAVE with a cooldown before it can be withdrawn. None of those receipt tokens is AAVE itself. The provider handles plain AAVE as an ERC20 on Ethereum. Because AAVE is priced in the hundreds of dollars, the minimum swap in AAVE terms is a small fraction of a coin.
