SSV's current documentation distinguishes token governance and staking from the ETH payments used by clusters and operators. It also retains a legacy SSV-denominated payment model. This matters when an old tutorial tells a validator owner to acquire SSV for every fee: identify the actual cluster configuration before funding it. The operator-fee guide states that newly registered operators use ETH balances, while older operators may have separate ETH and SSV balances during migration. Buying SSV is not the same as registering a validator, funding its ETH fee balance or configuring operators. For a token exchange, follow the SSV receiving instructions; for validator operations, inspect the official cluster and fee procedures applicable to that position.
