THORChain is a cross-chain liquidity network: its nodes hold native BTC, ETH and other coins in vaults, and every pool pairs an asset with RUNE, which also bonds the nodes that secure the network. On THORChain itself, memos do more than identify deposits — a memo on a transfer to a THORChain vault is an instruction such as a swap or a liquidity add. For a swap through KOT.CASH you only send RUNE with the memo the order shows, to the order's deposit address, never to a THORChain vault. Addresses start with thor1. Old ERC20 and BEP2 versions of RUNE were retired after the switch to native RUNE.
