What to know about Axelar
Axelar uses AXL to secure its interoperability network, while an ERC-20 representation circulates on Ethereum. Exchanges may call that representation wAXL, WAXL or simply AXL, so a ticker comparison cannot settle which route to use. Native addresses begin with axelar; Ethereum addresses begin with 0x. Those formats are useful checks, but the complete receiving instruction still decides the destination and any memo. A different issue arises when the native balance is delegated: a staking position is not the amount immediately available for an exchange transfer. For an Ethereum balance missing from the wallet display, the project describes importing the correct token contract. Displaying a token does not bridge it or change its network.

Does a AXL deposit need a memo?
Yes — on Axelar, a AXL deposit without the “MEMO” is not credited automatically. The order shows it next to the address.
Why can an Ethereum token still be labelled AXL rather than wAXL?
Axelar documents differences in exchange naming conventions. Check the selected network and address format instead of inferring the representation from a prefix. A service’s ticker does not replace its deposit instructions.
Does adding the ERC-20 token to a wallet move my funds?
Importing a token makes the wallet display an asset on the selected EVM chain. It is not a cross-chain transfer, and the project tutorial asks users to select the chain on which they received the token.
Can I exchange the whole native balance shown in staking?
Distinguish delegated tokens from the transferable balance. Axelar’s staking guide describes undelegation as a separate process. Check its current status and the spendable amount before preparing an exchange; this page does not promise an instant release.
