USDT on Solana is Tether's dollar token issued as an SPL token on the Solana blockchain. You receive it at the same base58 address as your SOL (for example in Phantom or Solflare), a transfer costs a fraction of a cent in SOL and lands in seconds. The one surprise is the token account: the first time a wallet receives USDT, someone has to pay about 0.002 SOL to create it. This guide covers the mint address, fees, what the network field on an exchange means and how USDT on Solana is swapped on KOT.CASH.
The official mint and how to recognise it
Every SPL token is identified by its mint address. Tether's USDT on Solana uses the mint Es9vMFrzaCERmJfrF4H2FYD4KCoNkY11McCe8BenwNYB with 6 decimals, the same precision as USDT on TRON and Ethereum. Tokens with the name โUSDTโ and a different mint are not Tether, whatever the logo says. Wallets usually label the genuine mint as verified, and the Tether transparency page lists it among supported chains.
Six decimals matter when you read raw values in an explorer or an API: a raw amount of 25000000 is 25 USDT. The token decimals converter does that conversion if you are reading Solscan or a JSON response.
Token accounts: why the first transfer costs more
Solana does not store token balances on your main address. Each wallet has a separate associated token account (ATA) per mint, derived from the wallet address and the mint. Your wallet address is what you share; the ATA is created behind the scenes. Creating an account requires a rent-exempt deposit: for a 165-byte token account that is 2,039,280 lamports, or 0.00203928 SOL.
- Sending to a fresh wallet: the sender's wallet usually creates the recipient's ATA and pays the 0.00203928 SOL. Phantom and Solflare show this as part of the fee.
- Receiving from an exchange or swap: the payer creates the account, so you receive USDT even with zero SOL โ but you cannot move it later without some SOL for fees.
- Closing the account: if you empty the USDT balance and close the token account, the rent deposit returns to you.
The Solana rent-exempt calculator shows the deposit for any account size, including Token-2022 accounts with extensions, which are larger than 165 bytes.
Fees and speed in numbers
| Item | Amount | โ USD |
|---|---|---|
| Base fee per signature | 5,000 lamports = 0.000005 SOL | $0.0005 |
| Priority fee (optional, congestion) | usually 0โ0.0001 SOL | $0โ0.01 |
| New token account for recipient | 0.00203928 SOL (refundable on close) | $0.22 |
| Block time | about 0.4 s per slot | โ |
| Provider confirmations for a deposit | 200 | โ 1.5โ2 min |
Compared with USDT on Ethereum the fee is negligible; compared with TRON it is cheaper in most cases, because TRC20 transfers burn TRX for energy if you have none staked. The stablecoin fee comparison puts the networks side by side with your own amount.
Choosing Solana when withdrawing from an exchange
Exchanges list the network as โSOLโ, โSolanaโ or โSPLโ. Pick it only if the receiving side also expects USDT on Solana. A Solana address is 32โ44 base58 characters with no 0x prefix, so it cannot be confused with an Ethereum or BNB Smart Chain address, but it can be confused with a TRON address at a glance โ TRON addresses start with T and are always 34 characters. If you paste a Solana address into a form set to TRC20, a good form rejects it; a bad one lets the withdrawal fail.
Swapping USDT on Solana on KOT.CASH
The liquidity provider accepts USDT on Solana both as a deposit and as a payout. In the widget select USDT and the network Solana on the side where you need it. According to the provider's pair data on 21.10.2026, sending USDT on Solana into a swap requires at least about 30 USDT, and the deposit is credited after 200 confirmations; receiving USDT on Solana from USDT TRC20 starts at about 12 USDT. The quote already includes the service fee (1% float, 1.5% fixed) and the payout network fee.
- Open the swap widget, choose what you send and set the receiving coin to USDT with the Solana network โ or the reverse.
- Paste your Solana wallet address (the main address, not a token account) as the payout address.
- Create the order and send exactly the shown amount from the network the order names.
- Follow the status on the order page; once the payout is sent, the Solana signature appears there and can be checked on Solscan.
If you want SOL itself rather than the dollar token, the USDT to SOL pair is the direct route.
Common problems
- USDT arrived but the wallet shows nothing. The wallet hides unknown tokens or the list is not refreshed; search the mint address in the wallet or check the address on Solscan.
- Cannot send USDT, error about insufficient SOL. Every outgoing transfer needs SOL for the fee and, for new recipients, for the token account. Keep 0.01 SOL in the wallet.
- Sent USDT on Solana to an address that expected TRC20. The coins are on a different chain; only the owner of the receiving address can recover them if the address exists on Solana. See sent crypto to the wrong network.
- Transaction failed but the fee was charged. On Solana a failed transaction still pays the base fee. Retry once the wallet shows enough SOL.
FAQ

Yes. You share your main wallet address; the token account is derived from it automatically.
Can I swap USDT on Solana to USDT TRC20?
