How to Swap SOL to USDC: Solana USDC or Another Network

Swap SOL to USDC: receive USDC on Solana (0.3 USDC payout fee) or on Base, Ethereum, Polygon; the token account rent, the 0.28 SOL minimum and a pre-send checklist.

Checklist before sending SOL for a USDC swap: native SOL, fee reserve, matching payout network, wallet address rather than token account, the exact amount in one send.

To swap SOL to USDC, send native SOL from your Solana wallet to the deposit of a swap order and receive USDC on the network you pick. Most people stay on Solana: USDC arrives at the same wallet, and the provider's payout fee for Solana USDC is about 0.3 USDC at the time of writing. The minimum is about 0.28 SOL โ€” roughly $30 with SOL near $106 โ€” and the deposit needs 200 Solana confirmations, which pass in well under two minutes.

Before you send: a short checklist

  • The amount clears 0.28 SOL and leaves enough SOL in the wallet for the transfer fee (5,000 lamports per signature plus any priority fee) and, if you keep other tokens, for their future transfers.
  • You are sending native SOL, not wrapped SOL (wSOL) or a liquid staking token like mSOL or JitoSOL. Those are SPL tokens with different mints.
  • The payout address matches the network. For Solana USDC, a base58 address from Phantom, Solflare or Backpack. For USDC on Base, Ethereum or Polygon, a 0x address.
  • The address is your wallet address, not a token account address. Solana token accounts have their own addresses; paste the main wallet address your wallet shows under Receive.
  • One send, the exact amount, to the deposit shown on the order page.

USDC on Solana and the token account

Solana stores token balances in separate token accounts. When someone sends you USDC for the first time, an associated token account for the USDC mint (EPjFWdd5AufqSSqeM2qN1xzybapC8G4wEGGkZwyTDt1v) has to be created at your wallet, and it locks about 0.00204 SOL of rent. Payouts from exchanges and swap providers normally create that account themselves as part of the transfer, and wallets show the new USDC balance automatically.

The rent is refundable. If you later empty and close the USDC token account โ€” Phantom and Solflare offer this under 'close empty token accounts' โ€” the 0.00204 SOL returns to your wallet. The rent-exempt calculator shows the figure for any account size.

Where else USDC can go

Base0xโ€ฆCircle-issued native USDC; gas in ETH
Ethereum (ERC20)0xโ€ฆHighest gas; best for large amounts
Polygon0xโ€ฆNative USDC; a separate USDC.e listing also exists

USDC is issued natively by Circle on each of these networks, so the token you receive is redeemable USDC wherever it lands โ€” not a bridged copy. The exception to watch is Polygon, where the older bridged USDC.e still circulates next to native USDC; the guide on native vs bridged USDC explains how to tell them apart.

Step by step

  1. Run through the checklist above.
  2. In the widget, choose SOL to send and USDC on the network you want to receive, type the amount and paste the receive address.
  3. Choose floating (1% service fee) or fixed (1.5%).
  4. Create the order and send SOL from your wallet to the deposit address.
  5. 200 confirmations take about 80โ€“90 seconds at Solana's ~400 ms slot time. Processing is estimated at 1โ€“2 minutes, then the USDC payout is sent.

Numbers

At SOL โ‰ˆ $106 and USDC โ‰ˆ $1, 1 SOL is worth about 106 USDC at market. After a 1% fee and the 0.3 USDC Solana payout you receive roughly 104.6 USDC; 5 SOL gives about 524.4 USDC, 0.5 SOL about 52.2 USDC. The live quote replaces these numbers once you type yours.

If the deposit does not show up

Solana transactions either land within seconds or are dropped. If your wallet showed an error such as 'blockhash not found' or 'transaction expired', the SOL never left โ€” check the balance and send again to the same order while its countdown is still running. If Solscan shows the transaction with status Success and the deposit address as recipient, it is only a matter of the 200 confirmations and processing. A transaction that Solscan does not know at all was not broadcast; there is nothing to wait for. Busy periods make this more common, and a wallet setting with a slightly higher priority fee usually fixes it.

USDC or USDT?

Both are dollar stablecoins, but they are used differently. USDC dominates on Solana DeFi and in apps built around Circle, and it is fully regulated under MiCA in the EU through Circle's licensed entity. USDT is more common on TRON and on many exchanges' P2P desks. If you are unsure which one the recipient accepts, ask before swapping โ€” converting between them later costs another fee. See the USDC to USDT guide for that swap.

FAQ

What is the minimum SOL to swap to USDC?

About 0.28 SOL at the time of writing, around $30. The widget shows the current minimum.

Do I need SOL to receive USDC on Solana?

Not for receiving: the payout normally creates your USDC token account. You need SOL later to send the USDC.

How long does SOL to USDC take?

Usually 3โ€“5 minutes: 200 Solana confirmations in under two minutes, processing, then the payout.

Can I swap mSOL or JitoSOL to USDC here?

Not as SOL. Liquid staking tokens are separate SPL tokens; unstake or swap them to native SOL first.

Is USDC on Base the same as USDC on Solana?

Same issuer (Circle) and same dollar backing, different networks and address formats.
