How to Swap TRX to BTC: TRON to Bitcoin, Step by Step

Swapping TRX to BTC is quick on the TRON side and takes one Bitcoin block on the other. You send native TRX from TronLink, Trust Wallet, Klever or a Ledger to a swap order and receive BTC at your own Bitcoin address. The two things worth checking before you start are whether your TRX is actually free to send and how much TRX you should keep.

Is your TRX free to send?

Many TRON users freeze (stake) TRX to get energy and bandwidth for USDT transfers. Under Stake 2.0, frozen TRX has to be unfrozen first, and unfrozen TRX becomes withdrawable after a 14-day waiting period. TronLink shows separate lines for available, frozen and unfreezing balances; only the available one can go into a swap. If you rent energy from a third-party service instead of staking, that does not lock your own TRX.

Keep some TRX if you hold USDT-TRC20

TRX is the fuel for every USDT-TRC20 transfer. With today's chain parameters a USDT transfer burns roughly 6.4 TRX of energy to an address that already holds USDT and about 13 TRX to one that never did, plus bandwidth if your free daily allowance is used up. If you swap all your TRX away and still have USDT in the same wallet, you will not be able to move that USDT until you top up TRX. How much BTC you get for TRX

Step by step

1. Make sure the TRX you want to swap is in the available balance, not frozen or unfreezing.
2. Open TRX to BTC, enter the amount and check the BTC you will receive and the minimum.
3. Paste a Bitcoin address from your own wallet — bc1q…, bc1p…, 3… or 1….
4. Create the order and send the exact TRX amount to the deposit address (a T… address). TRON deposits do not use a memo.
5. The provider waits for 20 TRON blocks; at three seconds per block that is about one minute.
6. BTC is sent automatically. The order page shows the payout hash; the first Bitcoin confirmation usually takes around ten minutes.

Fees: what you pay and where

• Sending TRX costs bandwidth, not energy. Each account gets 600 bytes of free bandwidth a day, enough for one or two plain TRX transfers; beyond that, about 0.27 TRX is burned per transfer.
• The service fee is 1% on the float rate or 1.5% fixed, included in the quote.
• The Bitcoin payout fee depends on the mempool and is also included in the quote.

Mistakes to avoid

• Sending TRC20 tokens instead of TRX. USDT, USDD or other TRC20 tokens are not TRX; use the matching pair for them.
• Sending TRX from an exchange on the wrong network. Some exchanges offer TRX on BEP20 or ERC20. Choose TRON (TRC20).
• A short withdrawal. Exchanges deduct their withdrawal fee from the typed amount. A smaller deposit on a float order is recalculated, so you receive less than quoted; below the minimum it fails.
• Typing the Bitcoin address. Copy it from your wallet and check it with the address validator.

Minimum and what you actually receive

The provider's quote on 20 October 2026 set the TRX to BTC minimum at 28 TRX, with a Bitcoin payout fee of 0.000057 BTC (about $4.70 at that day's price) built into the amount you receive. On a 1,000 TRX swap — about $330 — that payout fee is about 1.4%, on top of the 1% service fee. On 10,000 TRX it falls to about 0.14%. Bitcoin payouts are a fixed cost, so very small TRX to BTC swaps are possible but relatively expensive.

If you send from an exchange, TRX withdrawals are cheap but not free; the fee is deducted from the amount you type. On a float order a slightly smaller deposit is recalculated, so you receive proportionally less BTC; below the minimum the order cannot complete.

After the payout, the BTC is an ordinary Bitcoin output in your wallet. Receiving to a native SegWit (bc1q) or Taproot (bc1p) address makes it cheaper to spend later than a legacy address would — the Bitcoin fee calculator shows the difference in vbytes.

TRX to BTC or TRX to USDT?

If you are reducing TRX exposure but staying on TRON, TRX to USDT keeps everything in one TronLink wallet and avoids the Bitcoin block.
