A swap has a minimum because the payout itself costs money: the network fee for sending you the coin, plus the provider's handling, must be small compared with the amount. Below a certain size the fee would eat most of the payout, so the order cannot be created. On KOT.CASH the widget shows the current minimum for your pair before you create an order. The minimum is set by the liquidity provider and moves with network fees, which is why it is not printed as a fixed number anywhere on the site.
Where the minimum comes from
- The payout network fee. Sending BTC can cost from cents to several dollars depending on the mempool; sending USDT on Ethereum depends on gas; sending on Solana or the XRP Ledger costs fractions of a cent. The more expensive the payout chain, the higher the minimum.
- The deposit side. Very small deposits on chains with high fees are expensive for the provider to consolidate later.
- Liquidity. For some coins the provider's trading venues have their own minimum order sizes.
That is why "0.0001 LTC to USDT" โ about half a cent โ shows a value in any converter but cannot be swapped anywhere: no swap can pay out half a cent of USDT on a network where the transfer itself costs more.
Why the minimum changes during the day
Network fees move with demand. When Bitcoin blocks are full, the cost of a BTC payout rises, and with it the minimum for any pair that pays BTC. When Ethereum gas spikes, ERC20 payouts get dearer. The widget reads the current minimum from the provider each time you change the pair or the network, so check it right before you send rather than relying on yesterday's number.
For a sense of scale, here is what the widget's provider returned for a few pairs on 20 October 2026. Treat it as a snapshot, not a promise; the widget always has the current figure.
| Pair | Minimum deposit | Payout network fee |
|---|---|---|
| USDT (TRC20) โ BTC | 9.3 USDT | 0.000057 BTC |
| USDT (TRC20) โ ETH | 2.8 USDT | 0.0003 ETH |
| USDT (TRC20) โ USDT (BEP20) | 2.3 USDT | 0.15 USDT |
| USDT (TRC20) โ USDT (ERC20) | 12 USDT | 0.8 USDT |
| BTC โ USDT (TRC20) | 0.000082 BTC | 1.3 USDT |
| LTC โ USDT (TRC20) | 0.12 LTC | 1.3 USDT |
| DOGE โ USDT (TRC20) | 85 DOGE | 1.3 USDT |
| XRP โ BTC | 23.02 XRP | 0.000057 BTC |
| SHIB (ERC20) โ USDT (TRC20) | 1,400,000 SHIB | 1.3 USDT |
The pattern is visible: pairs that pay out on a cheap network (BEP20, Ethereum for ETH itself at that moment) have low minimums; pairs that pay out USDT on TRON carry a payout fee of about 1.3 USDT, so their minimums sit at several dollars.
What happens if you send less than the minimum
A deposit below the minimum cannot be exchanged. The order ends with a failed or refund status instead of a payout โ the order page shows which. Recovering funds from a below-minimum deposit is a manual process and is not guaranteed; the network fee of returning them may be comparable to the amount itself. If it happened, contact support with the order link and the transaction hash.
Above the minimum, a float-rate order is recalculated for the amount that actually arrived. That is useful when an exchange withdrawal arrives a little short because of its fee โ you simply receive proportionally less. It is not a reason to send a different amount on purpose: copy the amount from the order page.
| Deposit | What happens |
|---|---|
| Exactly the order amount | Swap at the market rate at processing |
| Different, but above the minimum | Recalculated for the amount received |
| Below the minimum | No payout; failed or refund status โ contact support |
| Second payment to the same order | Not merged with the first โ avoid |
How to avoid sending too little
- Check the minimum in the widget right before creating the order.
- When withdrawing from an exchange, add its withdrawal fee on top, so the amount that arrives is at least the order amount.
- Leave a margin over the minimum on volatile coins: if the price of what you send falls while it confirms, the dollar value of your deposit falls too.
- Remember chain-specific minimums: Cardano outputs need about 1 ADA, Polkadot accounts an existential deposit, XRP accounts a reserve. Wallets enforce them on your side.
And the maximum
Swaps have an upper limit too, set by the provider's available liquidity for the pair. In the 20 October 2026 quotes it was high for major pairs โ about 29 BTC for BTC to USDT, about 2.4 million USDT for USDT on TRON to BTC โ and lower for less liquid coins. If your amount is above it, the widget says so before you create the order. For very large amounts, splitting into several orders over time or using the Split Swap flow for several outputs are options; large deposits may also need more confirmations and can trigger the provider's AML checks.
Small amounts: is it worth it at all?
Even above the minimum, small swaps carry a higher share of fixed costs: your own sending fee, the payout fee and, for Ethereum tokens, gas. A $20 SHIB swap with $2 of gas loses 10% before the 1% service fee. The swap fee calculator shows the total cost; the crypto converter shows what your amount is worth before you decide.
FAQ
What is the minimum amount for a swap on KOT.CASH?
It depends on the pair and the current network fees. The widget shows it before you create an order.
Why did the minimum change since yesterday?
Network fees changed. The minimum follows the cost of the payout on its network.
What happens to a deposit below the minimum?
It cannot be exchanged; the order ends in a failed or refund status. Contact support with the order link and hash.
I sent a little less than the order amount. Will it go through?
On a float order above the minimum, yes โ it is recalculated for the amount received.
Is there a maximum too?
Yes, set by the provider's liquidity. The widget shows it if your amount is too large.
