What to know about Sky
Sky is the 2024 rebrand of MakerDAO, the protocol behind DAI. With the rebrand came two new tokens: USDS as the upgraded stablecoin, convertible one-to-one with DAI, and SKY as the governance token, convertible from MKR at 24,000 SKY per MKR. That conversion rate explains why SKY trades at a small fraction of MKR's old price and why minimum swap amounts are counted in hundreds of SKY. MKR, DAI and USDS are all separate tokens from SKY. The provider handles SKY as an ERC20 on Ethereum; SKY staked in the protocol's staking engine is not in the wallet's free balance.
