Your wallet shows a USDT TRC20 balance, but the transfer will not go through and the wallet complains about TRX or energy. The tokens are safe; the address simply has nothing to pay the network with.
Why a token transfer needs TRX
USDT on Tron is a TRC20 smart contract. Calling it consumes Energy, and every transaction consumes bandwidth. Under the Tron resource model you either stake TRX to get these resources or burn TRX at the moment of sending. USDT itself cannot pay for them in a standard wallet.
How to get the fee in
- Send a little TRX on the Tron network to the same
T…address from an exchange or another wallet. - Swap another coin for TRX with the simple swap and use that address as the payout address — no account required.
- Rent energy from a delegation service if you trust it. Delegation never needs your seed phrase.
- Stake TRX if you send USDT often.
How much TRX a transfer burns depends on the energy price and on whether the recipient already holds USDT. Check the fee in your wallet before confirming, or estimate it with the USDT TRC20 fee calculator.
If the transfer already failed

Prevention
Keep a small TRX buffer on every Tron address that holds USDT, and withdraw some TRX together with USDT when you move funds off an exchange.
