What a Solana Pay transfer request contains
The generator builds a Solana Pay transfer request, the simplest form of the standard, readable by Phantom, Solflare, Backpack and other major Solana wallets:
solana:<your address>
solana:<your address>?amount=0.75&label=Studio&message=Session%2012
solana:<your address>?amount=25&spl-token=EPjFWdd5AufqSSqeM2qN1xzybapC8G4wEGGkZwyTDt1v&label=StudioUnlike Ethereum's EIP-681, the amount is written in normal units, not lamports: 0.75 means 0.75 SOL. SOL allows up to 9 decimals; USDC on Solana has 6. The spl-token parameter is the USDC mint address โ it tells the wallet to send USDC instead of SOL. Label and message are shown to the payer on the confirmation screen.
This tool covers wallet-to-wallet transfers. Solana Pay also has reference keys and transaction requests for automatic order matching, but those need a merchant backend and are outside a static QR.
SOL or USDC โ and which address to give
Solana addresses have no prefix: they are Base58 strings, usually 43โ44 characters (a 32-byte public key). The same wallet address receives SOL and every SPL token.
For USDC, give your main wallet address, not a token account. Solana keeps each token in an associated token account derived from your wallet; Solana Pay expects the wallet address and the payer's app finds the right token account itself. If you paste a token account address from an explorer, payments can go wrong.
If you have never held USDC, the token account does not exist yet. The payer's wallet creates it during the transfer and pays a small one-time rent deposit in SOL, roughly 0.002 SOL. Mention this when you send the very first request to a new wallet.
With amount, without amount, and the caption
- Without amount: a permanent code for a tip jar, a creator page or a pop-up stall. The payer types the sum and the token stays fixed (SOL or USDC, depending on what you chose).
- With amount: invoices, event tickets, split bills. Add the invoice number to the message so the transfer is easy to find in your history.
- PNG caption: the coin, the amount and a shortened address under the code โ handy on invoices and in chats, where the payer wants to check before scanning.
- SVG: for stickers, menus and posters; stays sharp at any size. Leave a white border around the code.
Common Solana mistakes
- Choosing the wrong network on an exchange withdrawal. USDC exists on many chains; the payer must withdraw USDC on Solana (SPL). Write ยซUSDC ยท Solanaยป next to the code.
- Expecting USDT. The USDC option sets the USDC mint; if a payer sends USDT on Solana to your address, it still arrives in a separate token account, but the QR will not request it. For USDT on Solana, share the address-only QR and name the token in text.
- Payer has no SOL. Every Solana transaction needs a little SOL for the network fee, even when sending USDC.
- Posting a QR that can be swapped. In public chats, ask payers to check that the wallet shows your label and the right address before approving.
Privacy
Solana is a public ledger with fast explorers: once someone has your address, they can see all its tokens, NFTs and transfers. Keep a separate wallet for receiving public payments. The label and message are visible to anyone who scans the code, so keep them generic. This page creates the QR locally in your browser and does not store or transmit your address.
Frequently asked questions
+Is the amount in SOL or lamports?
In SOL. Solana Pay uses normal decimal units, so 0.5 means half a SOL. For USDC, 25 means 25 USDC.
+Which wallets scan Solana Pay QR codes?
Phantom, Solflare, Backpack and most other major Solana wallets support Solana Pay transfer requests. Test once with the wallet your payers use.
+Can I request USDT on Solana?
The menu offers SOL and USDC. For USDT, use the address-only QR and tell the payer the token and network in text.
+Do I need a separate address for USDC?
No. Give your normal wallet address; the payer's wallet sends USDC to the token account linked to it.
+Who pays the fees?
The payer pays the network fee in SOL and, if you have never held USDC, a one-time rent deposit of about 0.002 SOL for your USDC account.
+Is it free and private?
Yes. No sign-up, no limits, and the code is generated in your browser without uploading your address.
