Exchange Sui (SUI) to Bitcoin (BTC)

A Sui transaction can show storage charges and a storage rebate alongside its transfer. If the wallet’s net balance change looks unexpected, establish the transaction result and the intended recipient credit before treating that change as an exchange payment amount.

Start with the payment outcome, then explain the gas lines

Find the transaction meant to fund the exchange
Keep its reference and the issued recipient instruction together. Check the actual execution result and the relevant native SUI transfer. A wallet balance change by itself does not identify which recipient was paid or establish that the intended action succeeded.
Identify the gas-payment mode being described
The official gas-smashing documentation describes combining multiple gas coins and accounting for storage rebates. It also distinguishes newer address-balance gas payments, where selecting and merging gas coins is not needed. Apply the explanation to the actual transaction rather than assuming every wallet uses the same mechanism.
Keep the rebate separate from the BTC receipt
A storage rebate is part of Sui network accounting. It is not Bitcoin received from the exchange and not proof that a payout has started. Keep the later BTC receiving record independent from the SUI gas summary.

What each part of the record is useful for

Record componentQuestion it helps answerWhat it does not establish
Execution statusDid the transaction’s intended execution succeed? The amount of Bitcoin received later
Recipient and native SUI transferWhat was actually paid to the intended recipient? That the wallet’s total balance change equals that amount
Computation and storage chargesWhich costs appear in the gas summary?A universal fee for every SUI transfer
Storage rebateWhich storage-related return appears in this transaction? That the intended exchange payment succeeded
A record-reading guide with no fee quote, rebate percentage or instructions for modifying objects.

A refund line is not a substitute for successful execution

Sui’s official gas-smashing explanation gives a case where a transaction runs out of gas yet still produces a net refund through storage rebates. The documentation also says gas-coin merging remains after an execution failure. Therefore, observing a rebate or a changed gas coin does not establish that the transaction’s intended payment completed.

The GasCostSummary reference separates computation cost, storage cost and storage rebate. Read those as cost accounting rather than as the exchange recipient’s transfer amount. This page does not calculate a live fee or recommend deleting objects to obtain a rebate. It helps interpret a record that already exists.

Build a payment review that can be checked

  1. Preserve the original transaction evidence

Record the transaction reference, execution status, recipient and the native SUI amount actually transferred. Include the gas-summary observation if it explains why the wallet’s overall change looked different. Avoid replacing the transfer evidence with a screenshot of one headline balance.

  2. Explain any unresolved stage precisely

If execution failed, identify that failure before asking why a BTC payout has not appeared. If the SUI payment completed, keep its recipient evidence with the order reference and investigate the payout separately. In sponsored or otherwise delegated gas arrangements, establish which account paid gas before interpreting someone’s balance change.

  3. Resolve the existing attempt before another payment

An unusual rebate is a reason to read the transaction, not a reason to fund the exchange again. Check the actual payment result first and keep any further wallet action under the account owner’s control. Do not share recovery or signing material to obtain an explanation.

Questions about SUI payment accounting

Does a storage rebate prove that my exchange payment succeeded?
No. The gas-smashing documentation describes a failed execution that still produces a refund. Check the actual execution and recipient transfer.
Should I report only the wallet’s net balance change as the paid amount?
No. Preserve the actual native SUI payment evidence and explain the gas summary separately. They describe different parts of the transaction.
Does every current Sui wallet have to merge gas coins?
No. The documentation distinguishes address-balance gas payment, where gas-coin selection and merging are not needed. Identify the actual payment mode.
