Three labels that should not be merged
| Label | Role in this exchange | Mistake it helps prevent |
|---|---|---|
| ARB | The token selected for the outgoing payment | Sending ETH instead because the wallet is open on Arbitrum |
| Arbitrum One | The chain on which the intended ARB balance is held and sent | Assuming a token on another chain funds the same route |
| ETH for gas | The fee balance used when sending from a self-managed Arbitrum One account | Assuming an ARB token balance automatically covers the network fee |
| USDT receiving network | The separate chain selected for the payout | Assuming the outgoing chain determines where USDT will arrive |
Holding ARB does not itself establish that a transfer can be sent
The Arbitrum Foundation describes ARB as a governance token. Arbitrum’s user documentation identifies ETH as the gas currency for its public network usage. When sending ARB from your own Arbitrum One account, inspect the wallet’s fee estimate and the available ETH on that chain. Do not treat the displayed ARB valuation as an automatically usable fee balance.
An ETH balance displayed under Ethereum mainnet is not evidence that the selected Arbitrum account can pay its transaction fee. Check the actual network view before deciding what is missing. If you need to prepare funds or use a separate service first, that is another operation with its own details. This exchange calculation does not itself move a fee balance between your wallet’s networks.
Review the ARB payment and USDT payout independently
- Confirm the token selected in the sender
Open the ARB entry in the intended account and inspect its network and transfer screen. Being connected to Arbitrum is not enough: the same account can show several assets. Compare the outgoing token with the current exchange selection before copying the deposit destination into the wallet.
- Keep the fee estimate attached to that transfer
Use the preview for the actual ARB payment instead of copying a fee from a bridge guide or an older transaction. If the wallet cannot submit the payment, resolve the sender-side issue first. A visible USDT estimate is not proof that the exchange has received any ARB.
- Read the USDT recipient’s own network instruction
Select the payout network according to the receiving account’s current support. The reference route reviewed for this page sends ARB through the provider’s ARBITRUM network and receives USDT on Ethereum. That observation is not a permanent route guarantee or a reason to ignore a different current selection in the form.
Sending ARB and receiving USDT
- Can I fund an ARB exchange by sending ETH on Arbitrum?
- Use the exact outgoing asset selected for the exchange. The network label does not turn ETH into ARB. If you intend to exchange ETH instead, review the corresponding asset selection and current funding instruction before sending anything. Do not substitute assets based only on the chain name.
- Will receiving USDT on Ethereum move my remaining ARB off Arbitrum?
- The payout concerns the amount funded through this exchange. Other balances in your sending account remain separate. Check the outgoing ARB payment and the USDT payout as two records; do not interpret the receiving network as a command to move every asset held by the wallet.
