Exchange XRP to Litecoin (LTC)

An escrow reaching its release time does not automatically become an XRP payment to your exchange. Determine whether it was finished, who received the funds and what your sending account can actually use.

Read the release window before treating the money as available

For a timed XRP escrow, FinishAfter sets when finishing may become possible. CancelAfter, when present, limits that opportunity. These fields describe permissions to perform an operation; neither field is a receipt confirming that your account was credited. A cryptographic condition can also require a matching fulfillment.

Consider a fictional handover: a colleague says that an escrow becomes available tomorrow and asks you to arrange an XRP to LTC exchange today. First identify the intended beneficiary and the observed ledger state. Do not quote the escrow amount as your available sending balance merely because a date in the interface is approaching.

Four outcomes behind the same promise of โ€œreleased XRPโ€

Explain whether the question concerns release or exchange funding

If no finish or cancellation has completed, the unresolved stage belongs to the escrow workflow. Ask the responsible party for that stageโ€™s status. An exchange cannot infer its own funding from a future release condition, even when you plan to use those funds immediately afterward.

If a separate XRP payment was made after release, trace that payment by its own transaction reference and destination. Only then investigate any Litecoin payout. This record order prevents a conversation about an uncompleted agreement from being mistaken for a payment already received by the exchange.

Keep the escrow agreement outside the exchange payment

  1. Confirm which account you represent

The escrow owner and destination need not be the same account. Ask the agreement owner which side should receive funds. Record the escrow reference and intended beneficiary without requesting private keys or confidential fulfillment material.

  2. Establish a completed outcome

The XRPL lifecycle requires a finish transaction for delivery or a cancellation transaction for return after expiry. Check the validated result through a trusted account interface. A failed attempt, a proposed transaction and a timer screenshot are not interchangeable with a completed outcome.

  3. Calculate a separate XRP payment

Use the actual XRP sending balance and current account requirements to prepare the exchange payment. Keep its transaction reference alongside the escrow record, not in place of it. Review your Litecoin receiving address independently of every XRP account in the agreement.

Escrow and exchange questions

Does FinishAfter automatically send the escrow amount?
No. It is a release-time condition; a successful finish operation is separate.
Does CancelAfter mean the beneficiary gets a refund?
No. After expiry an escrow can be canceled; cancellation returns the funds to the escrow sender.
Is an escrow reference the exchange payment reference?
No. Keep a separate record for the XRP transaction that actually funds the exchange.
Does passing the time condition remove a cryptographic condition?
No. If the escrow has a condition, finishing also requires its matching fulfillment.
