Identify the source asset before entering the amount
- Open the balance details
Look beyond the portfolio total. Record whether the amount is the walletโs native SOL balance, a wrapped SOL token balance or a monetary valuation. Do not enter a combined display as the exchange payment amount without understanding its components.
- Read the selected exchange deposit instruction
Compare the requested asset and network with the asset the wallet proposes to send. The presence of both native SOL and WSOL in the Solana ecosystem does not itself establish that a SOL deposit will accept a token transfer or unwrap it automatically.
- Resolve wallet preparation separately
If your funds are shown only as wrapped SOL, investigate the walletโs supported preparation process before creating a payment expectation. This page does not prescribe a token-account closure or provide a transaction to sign. Recheck the usable source balance after any separately chosen wallet action.
Wrapped SOL is not just another spelling on a balance label
Solanaโs token documentation describes wrapped SOL as SOL held in a token account for a native mint. The account has a token balance as well as its underlying lamport state. That distinction explains why a wallet can present native SOL and a wrapped token holding separately rather than as one directly transferable native balance.
The accounts documentation describes lamports as a field of Solana accounts. Knowing the account model is useful when reading details, but a user should not infer transfer compatibility merely because an explorer shows lamports somewhere. Follow the payment asset and route actually requested, not a guess based on a total displayed beside a familiar ticker.
A fictional wallet display is not a funding instruction
| Display item | Illustrative amount | What remains to check |
|---|---|---|
| Native SOL | 0.04 SOL | What native amount the wallet can actually send under the selected instruction |
| Wrapped SOL token | 1.20 WSOL | Whether a separate wallet preparation decision is needed |
| Combined reference value | 1.24 SOL-equivalent | This arithmetic total does not prove native spendability |
| Quoted LTC output | Not fixed in this example | Obtain a current quote for the valid input amount |
Review the payment you are actually authorizing
- Check the asset in the wallet confirmation
- The outgoing preview should agree with the exchange instruction. If it describes a token transfer that you did not expect, stop and clarify rather than assuming the recipient will convert it. A name or logo is not sufficient evidence of asset compatibility.
- Use the walletโs real sendable amount
- Allow the wallet to show the actual payment requirements and check the live exchange limits. Do not assume that the full displayed native balance can leave the account. This guide does not choose a fixed fee allowance or recommend sending a maximum.
- Track the input and output separately
- Keep the Solana funding reference distinct from the Litecoin payout reference. If a wallet preparation transaction exists, record it as a third event rather than treating it as evidence of exchange funding. To resolve a question, identify which event you mean; never send recovery phrases or private keys with a support request.
Questions about the source SOL balance
- Does a SOL deposit automatically accept WSOL?
- Do not infer that from the shared ecosystem or ticker. Match the payment instruction to the actual outgoing asset and clarify an unclear route before sending.
- Is the combined native and wrapped value the payable amount?
- That sum is only a combined reference in the example. Determine the native amount actually available under the wallet and exchange instructions.
- Does this page provide an unwrapping transaction?
- No. Any needed wallet preparation is a separate decision. Verify the supported process in your wallet rather than signing an unexplained operation copied from a guide.
