Exchange Dogecoin (DOGE) to Bitcoin Cash

When one wallet handles both coins, check which screen supplies each instruction. DOGE funds the exchange; the BCH receiving account is a separate destination with its own address format.

Review the active coin whenever you change screens

  1. Open DOGE for the outgoing payment

A multi-asset wallet may keep the last coin or account open when you return to it. Select the Dogecoin sending screen deliberately, then compare its destination with the exchange funding instruction. Do not use the Bitcoin Cash receive screen as the source of the outgoing payment details.

  2. Open BCH separately for the payout

Retrieve the Bitcoin Cash receiving instruction from the intended account. Read the full asset name instead of selecting Bitcoin or another similarly placed entry in the wallet list. The exchange direction should still show DOGE being sent and BCH being received when you enter this destination.

  3. Check the final pair after any scan or paste

If a QR code or copied link opens a wallet screen, inspect the resulting asset, destination and amount before approving anything. The success of a scan means the software read the data; it does not establish that you selected the correct side of this exchange or the account you intended.

What did you copy from the receiving screen?

Copied itemWhat to inspectReason not to substitute blindly
A BCH account addressIt comes from the intended Bitcoin Cash receive instructionAn address for another asset is a different destination
A payment link or QR payloadThe fields the wallet actually fills after opening itA payment request may be handled differently from a bare address
A saved wallet contactThe active coin and current underlying destinationA familiar label does not verify the asset or account
A formatted CashAddr stringThe complete instruction supplied by the recipientIts appearance should not be rewritten to resemble a Dogecoin address
CashAddr is documented as an address format usable in links and QR codes. Preserve the recipient’s instruction and verify how the application interprets it.

Different address displays do not justify manual edits

The CashAddr specification describes a prefix, separator and encoded payload. A recipient or wallet can present details differently from a familiar screenshot. If the form rejects what you copied, first establish whether you copied an address, a payment link or unrelated text. Do not replace prefixes or remove unknown parts by guesswork simply to make the field accept the input.

After funding, keep the Dogecoin transfer reference and the exchange identifier. When a BCH payout record is available, inspect it on the Bitcoin Cash side and compare its receiving destination. Do not search for the DOGE payment in a BCH transaction history or expect one wallet notification to describe both events. Separate records are normal for the two sides of a cross-asset exchange.

Two coins in one wallet application

Does scanning the QR code confirm that the payment uses the right coin?
Inspect the screen that the wallet opens after scanning. Verify the asset, destination and amount against the relevant instruction. A decoded QR payload does not replace that review, especially when the same application handles both the outgoing DOGE and the receiving BCH account.
Why does the BCH payout address look unlike my Dogecoin address?
They belong to different networks and use their own address instructions. Use the BCH recipient’s current receive screen rather than trying to make it resemble a DOGE address. If you are unsure what was copied, resolve the format question before funding the exchange.
