Exchange Bitcoin (BTC) to Litecoin

A Litecoin wallet’s MWEB option does not certify the exchange’s payout support. Obtain a compatible receiving instruction before sending the BTC funding payment.

A Litecoin wallet may offer more than one receive mode

Choice in the walletWhat to establishWhat not to infer
Regular Litecoin receivingThe account’s ordinary receive addressThat it is a Bitcoin address because the wallet also holds BTC
MWEB receivingSupport for the specific MWEB destination by the senderThat every LTC exchange payout supports this mode
A copied receiving QRThe decoded destination and selected modeThat a QR automatically establishes route compatibility
An old saved destinationIts account ownership and current purposeThat a previous wallet feature guarantees today’s sender support
The Nexus guide offers regular and MWEB receiving options. Those wallet choices do not themselves specify the capabilities of this exchange route.

Do not select a private receiving mode by ticker alone

The Nexus help article describes regular Litecoin receiving and a separate private-receiving option. The Litecoin Learning Center also discusses MWEB and notes that some wallets or exchanges may not recognize its address format. These are compatibility questions for the exact sender and destination. The provider’s listing of an LTC network does not, by itself, certify every receiving mode a wallet can generate. Before paying BTC, resolve support for the address you intend to use.

If the wallet supplies a regular receive instruction as well, obtain that instruction directly from the same intended account and check its compatibility. Do not remove characters from an MWEB address to make it resemble another format. An address is not a user-editable switch between receiving modes. This page neither promises MWEB payout support nor performs a later move into MWEB after a regular Litecoin receipt.

Keep the receiving decision separate from the Bitcoin payment

Compare the actual destination after switching modes
Changing a wallet setting can change what its receive screen displays. Recopy the address only after choosing the intended mode, then compare the entire destination with the exchange review. A contact name or a previously scanned QR may still refer to an earlier choice, so establish which instruction is being used before sending the BTC deposit.
Check the recipient’s own limitations
For a hosted LTC account, follow that service’s deposit instructions rather than an unrelated wallet tutorial. Confirm that its receiving network and account are the ones you want to fund. Public descriptions of Litecoin features do not establish a particular company’s deposit policy, account access or support procedure.
Use distinct records after funding
The Bitcoin funding transaction and Litecoin payout identify different transfers. Keep the order number with both references. If the receiving wallet does not show a payment, first match the payout’s actual destination and selected mode. Do not try to solve an unexplained first payment by changing addresses and making another independent deposit.

Choosing the Litecoin receiving mode

Does the availability of LTC on an exchange prove that it can pay an MWEB address?
No. Network availability and support for a particular receiving mode are different checks. The Litecoin wallet guide describes choices available in that wallet; it does not certify the sending capabilities of every exchange.
Can I turn an MWEB address into a regular receive address by shortening it?
No. Obtain the regular receiving instruction from the intended wallet or service. Check that destination before funding the order. A manually altered string is not proof of account ownership or a supported conversion between modes.
