TON Connect 5.0: Check Your Wallet and the App's SDK Version

TON Connect 5.0 improves Gram Wallet support, but a connected address is not a completed login. The app's proof verification still matters.

In its October 11, 2026 announcement, TON Status introduced TON Connect 5.0.0 with improved Gram Wallet support in Telegram. It asked dApp developers to update the SDK and UI packages and check their authentication implementation. A user seeing a connected wallet address has not necessarily completed the application's login, and the notice does not ask holders to reveal recovery words.

Three screens can describe three different stages

The TON Connect overview describes a protocol connecting a dApp and wallet without handing the application the user's keys. A connection can support different requests. Therefore ‘the wallet opened,’ ‘the application accepted my login’ and ‘a payment was made’ should be recorded as separate observations when troubleshooting.

Visible stageQuestion it helps answerWhat to check next
Wallet opens from the appDid the connection path reach the wallet?Which wallet and app session are involved?
Address appears as connectedDid the app receive connection information?Did its backend accept the required authentication proof?
Login remains rejectedDid the application refuse authentication? What non-secret error and server-side reason were recorded?
A transaction request appearsIs the wallet being asked to authorize an operation? What exactly does that request authorize?
A transaction identifier existsIs there an operation to investigate? What is its actual network and recipient-side status?

This is a troubleshooting map, not a claim that every application has all five screens. Imagine a Mini App that displays your address but still returns to its login page. That observation narrows the investigation to the connection and authentication stages; it does not demonstrate that funds moved. Repeating a payment is not a way to repair the application's login.

Updating the interface does not replace backend verification

The announcement specifically calls out implementations using ton_proof which omit the get_public_key fallback when a key cannot be extracted from walletStateInit. It says this omission causes authentication failures with Gram Wallet. This is a direction to application maintainers, not an instruction for a wallet holder to find a private key and supply it manually.

The current authentication guide requires a validated account and signing key, a checked signature, the expected application domain and a fresh, single-use payload. Its fallback has account and code checks; calling a key getter alone is insufficient. Follow the complete applicable specification rather than resolving a compatibility complaint by accepting any returned key or disabling verification.

The version belongs to the application integration

TON Connect 5.0.0 names integration packages in this notice. It is not a universal firmware version to type into every wallet, and a maintainer cannot establish their deployed dependency version from a connection button's appearance. The production application and its authentication service must be examined together. This article has not inspected either on a live Mini App.

Report enough to identify where the flow stopped

  1. Record the application's name, its independently verified domain, the wallet name and the platform used.
  2. Describe the last completed stage: wallet opening, address connection, proof approval or application login.
  3. Save the time and a non-secret error message; distinguish a login request from a transfer request.
  4. Ask the application's support to review its deployed integration and proof-verification path if the failure concerns authentication.
  5. If a transaction was already created, preserve its identifier and investigate that operation separately before trying anything that could pay again.

Do not post recovery phrases, private keys or a full authentication payload in a public support thread. A useful report can say ‘the wallet connected, then the application rejected login’ without publishing material from the proof exchange. If a stranger offers to synchronize the wallet through a seed-entry website, that is not the developer-side fallback described in the announcement.

Compatibility is more specific than a wallet logo

A familiar logo in a connection list does not establish that the installed wallet, current session and application's backend work together correctly. Equally, one failed session does not prove a network-wide failure. Keep the exact combination in the report, rather than replacing it with the broad claim that TON is down or that all wallets need migration.

A later exchange has its own instructions

For a separate ordinary swap, read the exchange process and supported assets. The TON Connect release does not establish a KOT.CASH connection feature or route integration. A failed login in another application also does not cancel a previously created payment or modify an exchange order's conditions.

Check the current documentation and corrections for the application version involved. Preserve October 11 as the date of the cited announcement rather than presenting 5.0.0 as the newest package forever. The practical distinction remains connection, authentication and payment: each needs its own evidence.

FAQ

Does TON Connect wallet connection mean I am logged in?

Not necessarily: the application's backend may still need to validate ton_proof. Record connection and accepted authentication as separate stages.

Who should update the TON Connect SDK for this compatibility issue?

The announcement addresses dApp developers and their integration packages. A holder is not being asked to import recovery words or supply a private key.

Does a TON Connect wallet-list entry prove the app supports my current session?

A displayed wallet choice is not an end-to-end compatibility test. The actual wallet, platform, deployed integration and authentication handling still matter.
